Justin & Julie

Had the pleasure of doing portraits for Julie and Justin (my cousin).  Since I obviously know these two very well that let me experiment in a little more than usual and I could do whatever I wanted without feeling pressured.  Couldn't every session or shoot be like that?

I knew the location I wanted for this, the bike trail behind Fairmount Park in Riverside.   There is crazy vegetation throughout the area.   Ivy, bushes, trees, grass, palm trees, vines, etc.  Not really the safest area, especially at night, but I'd seen the area forever and have been wanting to shoot there. We found our way off that bike trail and into this little rabbit hole.  A little system of burrowed vines and branches which led to....... hobo hangout.  (We never ran into anyone, but they were probably gearing up for a long of night of drinking.)

The next 3 images are composited from two images.  One with the models and then one of just the background with lighting removed.     All shot on tripod with Canon 5D Mark iii.

I set up a softbox to the left of both models and then a flash sitting on the fallen tree directly behind them.  I do wish I would have put a modifier or a warm gel on the flash as the light behind them is very harsh.

Here's the softbox in frame.

And then I took a shot of the background so I could paint out the softbox in photoshop.
This last image below was closest to what it actually looked like down in the rabbit hole.

Here's some single shots from the day.

The below images are photo stitches called a Brenizer method.    Which is = using the technique from photographer Ryan Brenizer.   Ryan's photography speaks for itself.  The work has style.   check it - Ryan Brenizer.com

Christmas Card 2015

Amazingly I conceptualized, shot, edited and printed this card in less than 24 hours.  I present, the Fullers 2015 Christmas card.   I'm shooting for humorous, stupid, awesome, and badly done Holiday cards from here until FOREVER.    Keep a look out.

We are super pleased with this card and I hope everyone's holiday was a happy one.

Here's a snap of the photoshop screen before I found that incredibly awesome galactic space tree.
  All portraits shot individually.

Enterprise @ Landmark Square

Earlier this year I had a most excellent project that took me away from the portrait world and into the realm of landscape.  Enterprise Holdings was starting construction at their new hub office in Long Beach and they were looking for large prints to hang.  Subject matter was of landmarks and landscapes of the surrounding South LA Area.  It was definitely a no brainer on putting in a bid for the project.     I got to step back and apply myself with another subject matter.   It was incredibly refreshing.

Big thank you to Sarah at www.SarahKauppphotography.com who referred me to Enterprise.  She told them this was right up my alley.  She was right.    (Check out her website, amazing photographer).  She is out in Virginia/D.C area.

Forum shot below was re-posted by The Forum on their Instagram.  Rad.

The shot below of the Vincent Thomas Bridge I won a free wood print from www.printsonwood.com via their Instagram.  Super rad!  Check out their website.  They have superb print quality and a large selection of amazing artists with artwork/prints ready to buy and hit the printer.  Definitely take a look!
