Mario's Employee Party

You got to give it up for those businesses that are so busy during the holidays that they have no time for a Christmas party.  Mario's Place does theirs every 3rd or 4th week of January.
This was my second time doing this private party.
And it was great times on a Sunday evening.

I met some new faces and got drunk with some old ones.  I love Christmas in January!
Thanks Mario's Place.   A restaurant and bar I'm glad to spend money at.

Flat Wheeler @ The Barn

I feel bad...
This sweet sweet gentleman Ray-Flat Wheeler-Sak got myself and my wife on the list for his show with Matt Skiba and Kevin Seconds at The Barn.
We watched Ray's set and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Good job Ray!

From that point we were thirsty.  Turns out the Barn, does not sell booze.  Not even beer.  What kind of private University lets such travesty ensue?   Delicious, ice cold, smooth alcoholic beverages for our "listening" pleasure?   Booze never did anything to you!  Never on a Wednesday anyway.

Whatever, that sucked.
But what really sucks is we went to the bar and never came back to talk to Mr. Wheeler for a job well done and a big "motherfucking thank you" for gettting us into the show. (Thanks to Dave Sakover for letting my camera in) We missed Kevin Seconds and missed Matt Skiba.  But, I got some rad pics of the opener- Flat Wheeler.
Cheers mate.  We'll hang soon.  Promo shots are needed my man.

Blood Orange Infoshop

I ran into an old friend of mine, Fritz who is involved with a community space in downtown Riverside.

Blood Orange Infoshop Consensus Policy:

"Blood Orange Infoshop practices collaboration and consensus strategies to create a space for non-hierarchical discourse and organizing. We recognize we are enacting the kind of worlds we'd like to live in with our words, our social interaction, our organizing styles and our events.  We hope to nurture dissent and individual voice while maintaining a safe place for all to participate. BOIS aims to be a safe space that is both a collective and community process. We will not tolerate any statements, actions or merchandise that are considered hateful towards a particular race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexuality, age, citizenship, languages spoken, education, class, or mental or physical ability that makes any attendee, staff member, or guests feel uncomfortable."

Local community and culture at its finest folks.

Stop in.

Here's some pics of the shop and some art from the Elizabeth St/Rogue Elephant Tattoo Show.
Rad.
Cheers.
